Engineering Department
Every company claims to have a unique selling point (USP) these days, but at Technical Foam services we really do offer a service that sets us apart from other foam manufacturers and suppliers - our expert in-house engineering department.
Not only do we maintain and service all our machinery ourselves, we also design and build bespoke tooling and machines in-house to produce prototypes and totally new products on site and we are the only UK-based foam company with this capability.
Led by our engineering manager Tom Wallace, who has over 30 years' experience in the foam conversion industry, our engineering department is the jewel in our crown, enabling us to offer customers the most efficient and wide ranging service in terms of the quality and choice of products we can supply.
While many suppliers of flexible foam products sub-contract their engineering capacity, at Technical Foam Services our in-house engineers are a pivotal part of our team, as they enable us to provide a superior and bespoke service that no other company can. This includes:
- Bespoke tooling capability
- The widest range of processing and shaping capabilities
- Custom built machinery for new products
- Fast development and production of prototypes
- In-house design and production services
- A personal approach to each customer's requirements
- A deep understanding of the raw materials and processes
- Highly maintained machinery to ensure uninterrupted service and quality
A feeling for foam
Even subtle variations in cell size, density, hardness, elongation or strength can have a significant impact on the end product. Where one foam grade may work perfectly in a particular process, another may produce totally different results, and knowing how various foams will react is where Tom and his team come into their element.
With an in-depth knowledge of the raw materials we use and the ways in which they react to different production processes, our engineers can adapt existing machinery, create custom tooling for drilling, laminating, contour cutting, etc., or even build bespoke machinery to ensure that each new product we manufacture for customers will meet, if not exceed the client's specifications.
From concept to reality
With a team of such highly experienced in-house engineers at Technical Foam Service we are able to offer a truly comprehensive service that far surpasses that of most foam converters.
From fast and effective design and production of prototypes through custom built tooling and machinery to quality, cost-effective manufacturing of the end product, Technical Foam Services' engineering department really is shaping the future of foam conversion.
To find out more about the products and services we supply take a look at our Conversion Facilities page and our Product Range pages, or simply send us a sample or drawings in jpeg, cf2, dxf, or pdf format and we'll quickly provide you with the costs and lead times.
Think it's a complicated product? That's no problem. If you bring us an idea, we will make it a reality.
Our engineers never see problems only challenges.
Any foam products you need
When you are in the market to buy foam, for whatever purpose, just come straight to us at Technical Foam Services, where we will cater to all of your needs.
Evidently, foam UK products are produced here in the UK. However, we supply more than just foam UK products to the UK, as our services extend to supplying foam right across Europe. Our foam UK products are so well known across the UK and Europe that we have a constant demand to supply foam products.
We can produce foam products into any shape or size - and we're not just talking about foam products such as foam mattresses. Our foam products can be designed in virtually any shaped forms you desire. Our range of foam products imitates exactly the real object, thanks to our expert staff.
Shaped foams, just like the originals
Shaped forms in our foam UK products are difficult to tell from the original.
A great advantage of flexible materials such as polyurethane and polyethylene foams, is that when subjected to heat they can then be moulded and cut to shaped forms which otherwise are not possible to achieve via traditional converting methods, such as die-cutting and fabricating.
Our equipment is state of the art and our work force is highly skilled on these machines.
Our knowledge of this process with foam UK materials gives you the chance to design even more complex parts, with us being able to assist you with turning your ideas for shaped forms into reality.
Our finished foam UK products have many different uses, including protective clothing for sportsmen and women, and under bonnet insulating pads for the automotive market. Even Croc shoes are a result of such shaped form process.
Various processes for machined foam
Because of the variety of grades of foam that is available, we have various types of processes to convert our materials, known as machined foam.
We have a selection of top class machinery along with a highly skilled workforce to produce this machined foam in order to get the exact result our clients envision.
Many different factors determine which machines we use to produce the machined foam parts you request. Machined foam needs your clear communication with our staff in order to produce the size, finished shape and the quantity that you require.
Vital to our business is the engineered foam division
A significant part of Technical Foam Services is our engineered foam division. The process of converting foam in the engineered foam division can sometimes be tricky because the foam can come in different grades which can cause problems. But our engineered foam division, are experts in fine tuning machinery to the right specifications.
As well as building innovative machinery for cutting engineered foam, we also have the means to make our own tooling for all types of engineered foam jobs.
